Internationally-acclaimed Romanian Cellist Ovidiu Marinescu opens the season with the virtuosic and lyrically tranquil Cello Concerto by Dvořák. The concert culminates with Shostakovich’s bold and brassy portrayal of the 1917 Russian Revolution, his epic Symphony No. 12, complete with revolutionary songs, battle music, and funeral marches.
